More lumber and the beginning of some walls...

Plus some plumbing in the basement. I think this is it for the basement until they pour the concrete, but that won't be until after the framing is finished.

First Floor

After what seems like forever, we finally have some framing.

The view down to the basement.

That hole is going to be the stairs

The basement.

Beginnings of Framing

On Tuesday, we were told by the builder that they would start framing "tomorrow." Tomorrow came and all we had was some lumber.

It turns out (like the hole) they did the minimum amount necessary to call it "framing."

I left my hard hat at home.

You can see the green-treated wood on the top of the foundation.

I made my way into the basement, via the egress windows.

They dropped off some lumber on the 19th. Not too exciting...

Back Fill

Nothing too exciting, but our foundation was backfilled on Monday. We can acually touch it. Rumor has it they're starting to frame right now.

The beginnings of our electric bill...

Yesterday, they removed the forms and we have something that's (sort of) starting to look like a house.

My guess is that the tar bucket and styrofoam pieces will be there forever...

Poured (4/11/2006)

Shannon got tons (literally) of concrete for her birthday.

Forms! (4/10/2006)

Sorry... we're a bit behind on the pix. We had the forms for the foundation installed on Monday.

Now *that's* a hole

Didn't really know what to expect coming out today. What we got is the whole hole (see my other blog for a better joke) and the beginnings of our foundation.

Shannon's contemplating building the house or having the best swimming pool ever.

Beginnings of the hole

On Wednesday, we were told by the realtor that they would start digging "today" (meaning Wednesday). After dinner, we drove out there to find... nothing but a white truck parked outside of our lot.

The bad news
They did the minimum amount possible to still call it digging. All we have is the beginnings of the driveway.

The good news
The guy running the excavator started working about 2 minutes after we got there and we were able to watch him work for 30 minutes or so. Caught some nice pics.

Here is how the scene was after we left.

We ought to have an entire hole by today.

We have an address

You'd think that it would be easy to get the address. Apparently, it takes weeks of work.

Anyway, for those of you who like to mail things:

Jason and Shannon Arts
N1804 Schroeder Farm Dr.
Greenville, WI 54942

Don't mail anything yet. There isn't a mailbox there... there isn't much of anything there.

After 2 weeks of waiting for weight limits and building permits, we finally have our house staked out. This view is from the back corner of the lot.
